TikTok has released a new update that allows you to take your private messages to a new level! You can now send voice notes and even media by message! However, not all users will get access to the feature yet. TikTok has implemented multiple safety measures to keep its younger users safer. If you want to discover what these new features include, you should keep reading the following blog!
TikTok Will Support Multimedia Private Messages
The direct messages of TikTok have been enhanced with some new cool features. You’re now able to send 60-second-long voice notes and share nine images or videos in one-on-one chats or in groups with all your friends. By doing this, the platform is now focusing more on user interactions with friends in private. They’re stepping away from their original focus of sharing content publicly.
The voice notes are an addition specifically targeted at Gen-Z users. They find these voice notes an easier alternative to traditional phone calls. Voice notes have become more used in WhatsApp and Instagram, showing TikTok that it is the next way of communication.

TikTok implements Safety measures
These new private messages are only going to be accessible by TikTok users who have confirmed that they’re 16 years or older. In addition to this, there will also be a restriction on using Images/Videos as the initial message requests. In addition to this, the content will automatically be scanned for nudity for users under 18 years old.
TikTok Wants To Take A Multifaceted Social Network Standpoint
By making these changes, TikTok is further stepping into the direction of becoming a multifaceted Social Network. They’re now implementing features that you can find on Instagram and WhatsApp. The end goal. If they keep moving forward like this, they have the potential to reshape how over 1.5 billion people communicate daily.
