However, recently there have been more and more &#8220;modern&#8221; art pieces that have sold for millions of dollars, while the &#8220;art&#8221; is mostly considered junk by the majority of people. Take the &#8220;Comedian&#8221; by Maurizio Cattelan for example, this artwork consists of a fresh banana that is duct taped to a wall. However, it was recently bought for millions of dollars by Justin Sun, a crypto mogul, who called the artwork a cultural phenomenon! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-not-the-first-time-the-comedian-has-been-sold\">Not the first time the <em>comedian<\/em> has been sold<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When the artwork was first revealed in 2019 at Art Basel Miami, two versions were sold for 120.000 dollars each. However, the one Justin Sun bought was later sold for 150.000 dollars. Crypto mogul Justin Sun found it worth even more and bought the art piece for 6.2 million dollars, which is around 63 bitcoin at the moment of writing this blog. The artwork comes with a certification of authenticity. So he wouldn&#8217;t really lose his investment by eating the banana!
