The Singapore Grand Prix is one of the most intense Grand Prix on the F1 calendar. It is one of the hottest races during the year and it is a very technical track to race on. However, this is not what made last weekend’s Grand Prix so interesting. Max Verstappen was given a community service penalty from the FIA and Lewis Hamilton feels like he has been screwed over by Mercedes. These were the topics of last weekend, and we’re diving deeper into the Lewis Hamilton situation!
Lewis Hamilton Was Hopeful After Quali’s!
The Singapore Grand Prix started on a bad note for the Mercedes Drivers as they were nowhere near a competitive level. However, during the qualifying sessions, they surprised all their fans by actually making it to Q3! Lewis Hamilton even managed to go around the track 3rd fastest putting him right behind Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

After the qualifying sessions, Lewis told multiple reporters that he was hopeful about the race on Sunday as he was convinced he had a shot at a podium. However, you probably know that unfortunately, he did not achieve a podium finish in this Grand Prix. You could try to find something about his driving, but recent news has shown that it might have been something completely different.
Questionable Strategy Ruins Lewis’ Race!
When Lewis Hamilton was talking to the team about the race, it seemed like they did not want to listen. Lewis wanted to start on medium tyres and defend his position as much as possible early on in the race. However, Mercedes didn’t agree with him and let Lewis start on the Soft Tyres, so he could attack Lando Norris or Max Verstappen early on. However, Lewis ended up being the only driver within the top 13 to start on a different tyre compound!
As soon as the lights were out it became very clear that Mercedes had made a big mistake. Because of this mistake, Lewis had to come in early to change tyres to a different compound. This resulted in Lewis being behind traffic which slowed him down even more.

Lewis Hamilton tried to battle and beg the team to let him start on the medium tyres. Everyone else started on them, and Mercedes didn’t listen. Many people think that this was done intentionally. To try and give George Russel an advantage over Lewis, since Lewis is leaving for Ferrari next season.
