People in the US are able to claim a tax credit of $7500 on EV cars that are made in the US and use US materials. However, instead of ending in 2032, people will no longer be able to get the credit from the 30th of September of this year. Keep on reading to discover the different cars that are eligible for the credit before it’s too late.
The tax credit for new electric vehicles
In 2009, the US government introduced a tax credit as an incentive to purchase electric vehicles. This tax benefit would originally go all the way until 2032. However, with the introduction of the “Big Beautiful Bill,” the tax credit will end on September 30th, 2025. So the sales of EVs have surged in the past few months. Dealers have seen an increase of nearly 25% compared to before July.

What Car Models Are Eligible?
If you’re also looking to enjoy the tax credit, then here are five electric vehicles that are eligible. However, after September 30th, you won’t be able to enjoy the benefits, so make sure to purchase the car before that time.
Acura ZDX
The ZDX is the first-ever all-electric car from this brand, and it comes in two variations. You have a Rear Wheel Drive version that has 340 horsepower. If you want more power, consider the All Wheel Drive option, which boasts 500 horsepower.

Ford F150 Lightning
The Ford F-150 is one of the most “American” trucks you can get. However, with their completely electric F150 Lighting, you’ll even get the tax credit discount if you purchase it before the 30th of September. Who wouldn’t want a new truck like that!

Cadillac Lyriq
If you’re looking for a mid-sized SUV that has a luxury feel, then the Cadillac Lyric is your perfect choice. This is the first all-electric mid-sized SUV the brand has ever made, and they nailed it! It has the classic-looking front and sleek-looking designs on the outside, while being packed with new technology like a large OLED screen to control everything you’d need. It’s also the fastest accelerating Cadillac ever, with a 0-60 speed of 3.3 seconds.

Tesla Cybertruck
While most people have very outspoken opinions about the looks of the Tesla Cybertruck, it is one of the EVs eligible for the tax credit. So if you like the spaceship-like design, or if you just want to be “different,” then this one is for you!

Kia EV 9
This is the third generation of the Kia EV9 model, and it is still as stunning as when it first came out. The 2026 model will have a range of 230 to 304 miles and is one of the fastest charging EVs that are eligible for the credit. The Kia EV 9 will cost anywhere between 57.000$ and 80.000$.
