When you work in a museum, you have to be careful with what you touch and where you put your stuff down. However, most of the time it is quite clear to identify the artwork. Unfortunately, this was not the case for a Technician in a Dutch Museum. When he was finishing his shift, he accidentally threw away one of the art pieces from the museum he was working at! Keep on reading to discover how this could happen!

The Technician Thought Construction Workers Left The Cans Behind!

The Technician was covering a shift for the usual technician of the museum and saw that there were two empty beer cans in an unusual place. He then made the decision to pick up the “trash” and toss it. However, the cans were no ordinary cans. It was the work of Alexandre Lavet, a French artist. The work “All The Good Times We Spent Together” is an artwork of two very precisely hand-painted beer cans.

Art Work

You’d think that it would be clear that it was art since museums put art on pedestals. However, the Museum in Lisse, a city outside of Amsterdam, wants people to experience art differently. So they place different works in very unique places.

The technician who threw out the two cans was excused and forgiven. Anyone could have made the same mistake if they weren’t familiar with the work. The museum even said that this action gave the artist the credit it deserved. By being such a good replica of real cans this person believed it was real.

The Museum Employees Went Dumpster Diving To Retrieve The Artwork

As soon as the museum noticed that the artwork of Alexandre Lavet was gone, they went to look for it. They even had to go through multiple trash bags to be able to find the cans. Someone eventually did find the artwork and luckily it was still intact. The museum cleaned the cans and put them on a proper display. This way the cans would get the attention they deserved.
