The world of Formula One has livened up once again. This weekend was the first race weekend after the summer break. Drivers were rested and ready to go. After an intense qualifying session on Saturday, the front row of the grand prix consisted of Lando Norris on pole and Dutch World Champion Max Verstappen in second.
Lando Had A Poor Start to The Race, But Claimed The Victory!
After the classic “It’s lights out and away we go”, Lando Norris, who started in pole position, didn’t really go. It looked like he had trouble getting off the line compared to Max Verstappen! So a few seconds into the race, Max Verstappen was able to take the lead.
However, later in the race, Max had some issues with his tyres and wasn’t able to defend against Lando. Eventually, Lando passed Max and reclaimed the lead of the race. He held the position and was the first driver to drive across the finish line!
Lando Norris won the first Grand Prix after the summer break, however, this is not the only thing he achieved by winning! This victory was his second Grand Prix victory ever. He even ruined Max Verstappen’s hot streak for his home race!
Lando Norris Breaks Max’s Hot Streak of the Dutch Grand Prix!
In the past three Formula One seasons, Max Verstappen gave some of his best performances at the Dutch Grand Prix. He won the past 3 races there. However, Lando Norris’ Victory broke his streak at his home race and was able to close the gap between him and Max in the driver’s championship. The UK McLaren Driver was also the fastest around the track which gave him the extra point for the fastest lap!
Now the gap between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris is just 70 points, which seems like a lot, but Lando is still able to become world champion this year! And with McLaren’s recent success, this is a dream that can become a reality!
