Spotify DM's

Soon you’ll be able to slide into your crush’s Dm’s by just sending them your favorite song or commenting on one of their playlists on Spotify. The company is bringing out a new feature that allows you to send messages. They designed it to boost the experience for listeners. Keep reading to discover more about it.

A New Way Of Sharing Music

Spotify recently announced that they’re going to be rolling out a “DM-feature” within the app so that you can start interacting with other Spotify users and share music with your friends by sending them DM’s and you’ll probably be able to contact some of the people who create public playlists. People can always refuse to accept messages or can set their profiles to private to not be contacted.

While you might be able to contact other people who create playlists, the company hasn’t shared if artists are also able to interact with fans by sending them DM’s on the platform, so don’t expect a text from Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber just yet.

The new feature will be launched in select markets to test it out before it becomes available globally. The new DM system will not be hidden behind a paywall. Which means that anyone with a free or premium account can send messages and share music with the new DM feature.

Will Spotify Become The Next Social Media Platform?

Spotify claims that it’ll be adding a messaging feature to make sharing music easier, so you don’t have to use other apps. However, this, combined with the option of watching video podcasts and music videos together, might make it more interesting to have watch parties of certain podcasts, audio books.

Better for social media Detox

Recently, many people have attempted to use basic phones or remove certain social media apps from their devices. They’re doing this to regain control over their lives. Whenever they had to share music, they often did this via these social media apps. With this new DM feature, users can stay away from the addictive algorithms of apps like TikTok or Instagram. So they can still enjoy and share their music without the need for other apps.
