The modern adaptation of Wicked was a great success in movie theatres. Mattel, a giant toy manufacturer, was responsible for making the dolls of the characters from the movie. However, while the dolls might look amazing and be accurate to the characters, their box came with somewhat inappropriate packaging.
The wrong link was printed on the packages, resulting in a huge backlash!
When you look at the box, you probably won’t see the problem immediately and if your kid is just happy to play with the doll, then there is no problem. However, when you look closer to the package and start reading what is on there, you encounter a link that you can visit, which would send you to the movie’s website.

This is where the mistake on the packaging was found. Instead of printing the correct title: WickedMovie.com, Mattel accidentally printed the link to a pornographic website. Once people started to figure it out, the company received a lot of criticism. Especially since they’re selling mostly to kids who are more tech savage than ever. So if they wanted to visit the link, they would be exposed to adult images that are absolutely not intended for kids!
People On X Notified Mattel about the misprint on the Wicked Dolls
It wasn’t Mattel or one of the stores selling the dolls that found out about this mistake. A person on X, formerly Twitter, posted about it saying that they made a huge mistake. The affected boxes were mainly from the 2 main characters played by Cynthia Ervivo and Ariana Grande!

Mattel tells customers to cover the link
Even though they’re trying to figure out a solution to fix the packaging problem caused by the misprint, people have already bought the dolls. Mattel suggests throwing away the box or obscuring the link in the print for the parents who have bought the dolls. They also said that the printed link is not intended for children! Anyone who has bought the dolls can contact customer support for more information!
