The Singapore Grand Prix’s curse has finally been lifted. It was the first time in quite some time that there was no safety car deployed during the race. Lando Norris won his 3rd Grand Prix with over 20 seconds on Max Verstappen who came in second. Max Verstappen came in 2nd place with over 20 seconds on Oscar Piastri. This made the race not that interesting. However, Daniel Ricciardo did something that infuriated Lando Norris and seriously changed the trajectory of the Driver’s championship this year.
Daniel Ricciardo Sets Fastest Lap of Singapore Grand Prix Ever!
It is rumoured that the Singapore Grand Prix was the last race of Daniel Ricciardo for a while. Due to performance clauses in Liam Lawson’s contract, the rookie has to race a certain amount of races this season. However, Daniel Ricciardo left the Formula One grid in a way that only he could pull off. As a last goodbye, he chose to go for the fastest lap in his VCARB car, and he made it.
Not only did he take away Lando Norris’ Grand Slam title, but he also took an important point from the English Driver. His fastest lap during the Singapore Grand Prix was also the fastest lap ever set on that track in Formula One cars!
Lando Norris Now Has To Fight Extra Hard
With Daniel Ricciardo taking the point for the fastest lap during the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen’s chances to win the driver’s championship have increased considerably. If Max Verstappen finishes second place behind Norris for the rest of the season, he’d still win the Championship!
With Max being able to finish second while his car is still not in good shape, it will only get harder for Norris to win the races. At the Grand Prix in Austin, Red Bull will introduce a big upgrade package. This package should improve the performance of their cars by quite a bit. Lando Norris still has to fight his teammate Oscar Piastri, even though McLaren will support Lando in winning the Championship.
