Have you ever had the irrational feeling that your suitcase could contain drugs when you’re at an airport, while you know that no drugs would ever touch the bag? Then you’re not alone. Even though most security systems now pick up on drugs or other hidden items in bags, there are still people who try to smuggle illegal things in or out of countries! A British beautician, Kim Hall, recently was one of those people. However, she got caught in Chicago and now faces up to 60 years in prison! The Beautician Wasn’t Transporting a Small Package!
Kim Hall, a British Beautician from Middlesbrough recently got caught in Chicago’s O’Haire airport for smuggling drugs into the country. When you hear this, you might think she was trying to hide a bag of weed or in an extreme case a suitcase with a kilo of cocaine in hidden compartments. However, she was caught with over 40kg worth of cocaine at the airport, making it a class X felony.
She now is on house arrest, pleaded not guilty to the charges and is awaiting her trial date. Kim also begged the UK government to help her out since she had never done anything wrong and this is not who she was! If she is deemed guilty, Kim can face up to 60 years in federal prison in the United States!
Kim Hall Denies The Charge And Claims She Was Forced To Do It!
Obviously Kim said she wasn’t the one who put the drugs in the bag. She told police officers that the bags only contained cash, which two British men had forced her to take to the UK. The total amount of money in the bags would have been 250.000$, however, this is not what the police found. Instead, they found cocaine!
Hall claims that the two men held her at gunpoint and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t agree to take the bags. But she was never told that there was anything other than money in these bags. However, when the security workers opened the bags, they found around 43 kilograms of cocaine in her bags. The find was valued at over £15 million!
