Fans of certain people will pay incredible amounts just to get a signature from their idols. However, with collectible cards, you have a chance of getting these signatures on exclusive cards! Recently, a one-of-one holy grail sports card, featuring Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s signatures, was sold at an auction and broke the record for the most expensive card ever! Keep on reading to discover more.

A signed card of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan sells for 12.9 million dollars!

On August 23rd, a unique sports card was part of an auction at Heritage Auctions, and managed to break the previous record for the most expensive sports card ever to sell. However, this is normal as we’re talking about a one-of-one, double-signed NBA card. The signatures are from Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. The card was originally part of the 2007-2008 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection.

The original owner of the card had gotten many offers over the years. However, he knew that it would sell for a lot more than he was being offered. Auction experts estimated that the card would fetch around 6 million dollars. However, during the sale, the price just kept climbing and was eventually sold for 12.932 million dollars. This made it the most expensive sports card ever. The previous top card was a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card. That one sold for 12.6 million dollars.

Not the most sports collectible of all time

While this legendary card is the most expensive card of all time, it is not the most expensive collectible of all time. The item that is still in the number one spot is Babe Ruth’s “Called Shot” jersey. This jersey was sold nearly a year ago for over 24 million dollars, which is double the price of this card. However, Kobe and Michael Jordan are absolute legends in the sport, which means that the card can increase in value!
