Even though there were many victories for new athletes in this year’s Olympics in Paris, there were more controversies. It all began with a bad opening ceremony that offended the Christian community as a whole; the controversies didn’t end there! Elon Musk, Jk Rowling and Female Olympic boxing champion Imane Khelif were also involved in one of these controversies!
Another thing that was mocked online was the breaking competition for adults. It was its first and last Olympic competition for adults. This probably has to do with the performance of Australian Professor Rachael Gunn. However, it wasn’t all bad news from the Olympics. We also had a lot of happy moments, such as Novak Djokovic winning his career Golden Slam by winning Olympic gold. These moments mostly got overshadowed by the controversy around Imane Khelif!
Why Was There A Problem With Imane Khelif?
After an incredible fight between the Italian boxer Angela Carini and Imane Khelif, which only lasted 46 seconds, the internet exploded with the news that Imane Khelif would be a transgender man, especially on the “Free speech” social media platform X. The Italian boxer said in a post-fight interview that she had never experienced pain like that.
People with large followings participated in criticising the Olympic governing body for allowing a biological male to fight against women. However, it turns out that Imane Khelif is not a transgender man, but just a biological woman with higher levels of testosterone.
Since the fight, the Italian boxer has publicly apologised for her comments during and after the fight. However, the damage was already done and Imane Khelif became the victim of cyberbullies!
Elon Musk and other big names were mentioned in Imane’s lawsuit!
After her win at the Olympics, Imane Khelif went to the French authorities to take action against her bullies. She filed a complaint against Twitter for “acts of aggravated cyber harassment”. Then, there was a lawsuit filed against social media platform X, targeting everyone who participated in harassing Imane. Although the lawsuit was against X in general, it specifically named several individuals. Two of the most prominent figures in the lawsuit are Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling.
Both Musk and Rowling openly accused Imane of being a man who enjoyed punching women for fun. Neither Elon or Jk Rowling has apologised to Imane Khelif after it was proven that she was a biological woman!
