Wealthy people often give away part of their money to different charities after they die. However, Chuck Feeney decided to change by giving away nearly all his fortunes! He has donated to causes like education, healthcare, and human rights funds to help less fortunate people.

Chuck Feeney made his money with Duty-Free Shoppers, gave away his entire fortune

Chuck Feeney won a bid to gain the Duty Free Shop Concession in the Hawaiian airport and it was a big success. Mainly because the Japanese government allowed more free travel for its citizens who then chose to go to Hawaii. These Japanese people could get alcohol and cigarettes a lot cheaper in the airport than in their own country, making over 10 million dollars in the first year. However, with travel company Boeing gaining a lot of success, this became 1 million dollars per day!

The billionaire inspired other wealthy people!

Most people would consider rich or wealthy people greedy as they always want more. However, this is not the case for Chuck Feeney. Until his last days on earth, he lived a modest life and wanted to help as many people as possible. He had a philosophy that wealth should benefit society, not the individual. Chuck founded The Atlantic Philanthropies in 1982 to others.

Of course, he also wanted to make sure that his family and himself would never have to worry ever again, so he set up multiple funds. However, once his family was secured, he transferred the majority of his fortune to his philanthropy helping less fortunate people in the world. Other well-known wealthy people like Warren Buffet, have followed his example by donating significant amounts to charity

Over the span of his life, he gave away a lot of money. Most of the time he tried to stay anonymous, however, it is estimated that he has donated over 8 billion dollars!
