Backlash On The Opening Ceremony Of the Olympics!

Olympics France

Now that the Euro Finals have been played and England unfortunately couldn’t bring it home, there is not much on TV. Even the Formula One racers are going on their summer break after the disqualification of George Russell in Belgium! But luckily for the sports fans out there, one of the biggest events in the world has just started: The Olympics!

Snoop Dogg “Ran” With The Olympic Flame!

When it comes to the Olympics, lighting the flame is one of the oldest traditions. The Olympic flame is carried to the stadium, all the way from Greece! Each country that it crosses will select a few athletes to take part in the relay. This year, the games are held in Paris, which made the run cross quite some countries. Even Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc got to participate when the flame crossed Monaco!

The one face we did not expect to see in the Parade of the Flame was world-famous rapper Snoop Dogg. He did take his role very seriously and even “jogged” a little bit to show that he is an athlete at heart!

Opening Ceremony Show Criticised By Public

The Olympics are about athletes who compete in different disciplines to get the gold medal. Each of these athletes will represent their country and fight for a title. Normally, the opening ceremony is somewhat related to this, but unfortunately, this was not the case this time around. The French government decided that it was an opportunity to show how inclusive they were. This was done by letting members of the LGBTQ+ community and Drag Queens perform the show. However, this was not received as it was intended and got a lot of criticism from the Christian community. It was so bad that the Olympic organisers made and shared a public apology.

Online multiple videos are going around of people who paid more than €1500 for a ticket to be at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in 2024. However, a lot of the things that were shown on TV, were not visible at all to bystanders. So these people paid that much to watch some boats floating by on a river. This is something you could do for free on any other day!
