EBDR stands for Emploment-based Digital Replicas, and it is a way for movie studios to cut costs on the cost of actors. When signing an EBDR contract, actors are allowing the movie studio to alter scènes, body language, delivery of lines and even the sound of their voice. All of this without the actor being present. The actor would still get paid for the days that they’re working with the EBDR, however this would be at a reduced rate.
Nicolas Cage is fighting against this since he thinks the art of acting is something human-made and comes from within. It can’t be replaced by altering images. Nicolas Cage spoke on the situations that have already taken place. He said that when he was watching The Flash there was a scene he never recorded. It wasn’t him during that scene, but an Ai copy! People were writing songs and using the power of Ai to make it sound like Billie was singing it herself. This would be a huge threat to the music industry for current artists and Recording studios. The studios would be able to record and publish songs with the artists’ voices without the artists being there.
