Vacuum cleaning used to be a tedious task that you had to do once or twice a week to keep your house clean. However, due to the evolution of technology, we now have little robot vacuum cleaners that do the work for us. Amazing right? Well as it turns out the little robot vacuum cleaners aren’t as great as they seem. Keep on reading to discover why.
Hackers find opening in Robot Vacuum securities
You don’t have to worry about all robot vacuums, most of them have a safe security system that makes hacking into them a lot harder. However, the Ecovacs Deebot X2s were the specific vacuums hacked in multiple states. However, these hackers were able to access the in-built speaker and were able to control the robot vacuum.

The hackers even went as far as speaking through the in-built speakers and yelled racial slurs while moving the robot. Some owners tried to reset the password of their account and reset the robot, but after a while, it started moving again. If you physically turned off the vacuum, it wouldn’t move again, but then your robot vacuum would be useless.
It’s way worse than you think
You might think that people doing some funny stuff with your vacuum isn’t that bad at all. However, it is way worse than you think. This specific robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a camera capable of sending out live images of the inside of your house. Luckily the hackers made themselves known by yelling obscenities through the speaker.
However, someone with worse intentions would have been able to pretend to be your vacuum cleaner without letting you know that they’re watching. They would get information about your daily routines, what your house looks like from the inside and much more. For example, the vacuum of one of the victims who got hacked was near the master bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. He was afraid that someone might have been looking at him, his partner and his kids while they were naked.
