Formula One is the highest competition in motorsport, where only 20 racing drivers get the chance to drive mechanical machines to their absolute limit. However, the sport also comes with a lot of pressure to perform, because if you don’t perform, the team will look for a driver who will. This is something that Lewis Hamilton is experiencing in the last few races, as it seems that he just can’t get comfortable in his Ferrari!

Lewis Hamilton States that “He is useless” after qualifying

This weekend, the Formula One drivers will race at the Hungaroring track in Hungary. Just like every week, the drivers were interviewed after they set their qualification times to determine the starting grid. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc managed to put his Ferrari in P1 and will start the race from the front row.

His teammate, Lewis Hamilton, however, didn’t do such a good job. He is starting in P12 behind the Haas of Oliver Bearman and even behind the Kick Sauber of Gabriel Bortoletto. Apparently, this was a hard pill to swallow, and it really got to the 7-time world champion. In the post-qualifying interviews, he even said “I’m just useless” multiple times and suggested that Ferrari should look for another driver. Check out the interview below.

The Mental Challenge Of Being A Formula One Driver

The reaction Lewis Hamilton gave after qualifying is a side of the racing driver we haven’t really seen before. It also shows us how deeply affected the racing drivers can be whenever they just can’t seem to get it right. However, he is not the only one who has shown these types of thoughts. For a while, fellow Britton Lando Norris was very negative about himself in the post-race shows. A couple of years ago, Daniël Ricciardo had similar thoughts and eventually even had to leave the sport as his performance kept decreasing.

This shows how much pressure the drivers are under and how competitive it is. These racers have some of the most sought-after seats in the industry, and each year, new talent hopes that one of the current F1 drivers will leave the sport so they can get their chance.

These comments from Lewis Hamilton also show how resilient Max Verstappen is, when he has one of the worst A-team cars and still fights every single weekend to get as close to the podium as possible.
