Whenever you buy a new car, you hope that it is working perfectly fine. However, if you’ve used it for a while, you probably won’t expect any free replacements for certain parts anymore. One of the most expensive pieces to replace in a car is the engine. It’s the heart of the car that makes driving possible. Sometimes things go wrong during the production phase, which car manufacturers have to cover, and the latest example is Nissan, which has recalled nearly 500.000 cars in the US!

Multiple Nissan and Infiniti models are being recalled!

Nissan is recalling around 450.000 different cars, built in the last 6 years. This recall is not just for Nissan models from the past few years, but also some Infiniti SUVs. The manufacturer discovered that the engines and turbos of the cars might have been made with badly manufactured bearings. These could seriously damage the internal engine, which is why the models are being recalled. The affected models are:

  • Nissan Altima (2019-2020)
  • Nissan Rogue (2021-2024)
  • Infinity XQ50 (2019-2022)
  • Infinity XQ55 (2022)

So, if you have one of these cars and want to make sure everything is okay with the internal parts of the engine, we highly advise you to visit the dealership as soon as possible!

Will all cars get an engine replacement?

While there might be some badly manufactured bearings, Nissan is not just installing a new engine in every one of these 450.000 cars. They first want owners to bring them back to the dealerships, where they can be inspected by an official technician who will check the engine oil for metal shards. If metal is found, Nissan will repair or replace the complete engine so that it’s safe to use. If no metal is found, the owner will receive an oil change for free and a clean bill of health for the car.
