B2 Bomber

Recently, the B-2 has been spotted, which is a very unusual sight. This stealthy plane was once the pinnacle of aviation engineering, and still is one of the most stealthy planes ever made. But what makes this plane so special? Keep reading to discover everything about it.

The B-2 Bomber is still undetectable by multiple radar systems

When you look at the B-2 bomber, you’ll immediately notice that it does not have the usual shape of a plane. Instead of having a long cylinder with wings, it looks like a giant, slightly chubby, letter “W”. This plane incorporates radar-absorbent materials and is built with different angles to basically make it invisible in the sky. Their top speed is 1093 km/h, and they can fly at altitudes of up to 15.000m. In total, 21 B-2 bombers were made, costing an incredible 2 billion dollars each. However, you won’t see them often as they’re only used on special occasions. Check out this video to see how it works and why it was built.

The UFOs from back in the day might have been these planes!

The production of these planes wasn’t made public, but they still needed to be tested. So if there ever was a clear sky, people could spot them in the air. Many think that these were responsible for UFO sightings. These highly classified planes were not talked about until they were fully operational. But even then, there was a lot of secrecy around them, as the USA didn’t want any other army to build their own versions.

However, the B-2 bomber is not the most secretly developed plane ever. There is one plane, the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, which was a super-secret project. This Black-project plane was intentionally built for stealth bombing operations. With a very unique body and subsonic speed limiters, the plane used to be undetectable by nearly all radars. However, with modern technologies, these stealth bombers lost their effectiveness ness which meant the US needed to retire the planes. In total 59 of these were made, each costing somewhere between 42 and 112 million dollars!
