Sweet crimes in a fun package: Haribo has to recall candy after Canabis has been found!

Haribos are some of the most popular family sweets you can buy. People often choose mixed bags to make sure everyone has what they like. In the Netherlands, people complained of feeling sick after they had consumed the candy. You might think that they had just eaten too much. However, this was not the case! There were traces of cannabis found in multiple bags of sweets, which caused a region-wide recall of the candy! Keep on reading to discover more!

While some people like to enjoy some cannabis or consume edibles to get high, they usually don’t do it in the shape of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ. So, when several people complained of dizziness and unusual feelings after eating from a bag of Haribo candy, the company conducted its own investigation. However, it is not clear yet how many people were affected by the cannabis!

They took multiple samples out of different supplies of candy, and at least three bags were found that contained cannabis! However, how it got in there or who is responsible for it. To be sure, they’re recalling all products of these three types of candy with an expiration date of January 2026.

Police had to get involved

The company has not given an official statement yet on how the contamination was possible.However, they did say that they’re working with the Dutch police to get to the bottom of this. They’re taking the problem very seriously and are recalling the whole stock of these bags just to be sure. They even tested bags from different reasons just to be sure. However, people in other countries don’t have to be afraid. With Haribo’s sampling, they concluded that the Netherlands was the only affected region.

So if you had hoped to get high off of normal sweets, you will be disappointed. However, if you’re planning a trip to the Netherlands sometime soon, you might still be able to get one of the contaminated bags!
