Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most iconic circuits on the Formula One race calendar. However, most drivers don’t like the track as it doesn’t give enough chances for overtaking and real racing. Winning the Grand Prix however, is often a dream for most F1 drivers and last weekend it was Lando Norris’ chance to shine!

Winning in Monaco is the dream for nearly all Formula One drivers. The race might be boring, but actually winning there is quite difficult. There are not that many chances to overtake, which makes it a strategic competition instead of a race. Not only did Lando Norris set a new lap record on the track, but he also managed to win! Norris finished first, Charles Leclerc in second, and Oscar Piastri in third. Lando is now only 12 points away from the lead in the F1 standings for the driver’s championship.

After the race was over, multiple drivers were seen in their personal cars with their family or partners. However, one driver was spotted with a new passenger in their car. Race winner Lando Norris was seen driving his Ferrari in the streets of Monaco. Sitting next to him was Portuguese model Margarida Corceiro.

Drivers don’t like Monaco

While most drivers choose to live in Monaco, they don’t particularly like racing there. The Tax haven is a beautiful city to visit; however, with modern-day Formula One cars, it is almost impossible to overtake on the circuit. The FIA tried to manage this by implementing a mandatory two-stop rule. However, it didn’t change much in the outcome of the race. In the press conference after the race, multiple drivers were asked what could be done to improve the race.

The Dutch world champion said that if they’d change much more, they’d be playing Mario Kart instead of racing F1. George Russel suggested that 15 pit-stops would be an amazing idea. Another suggestion he gave was: every driver should have a button for a one time activation for a sprinkler system that can be used during the race weekend.

Most drivers think the same about the track. It is mostly a meet-up for rich people to get more connections, and not really an F1 race anymore.
