The move to Ferrari of F1 legend Lewis Hamilton turned the sport completely upside down. In the second race weekend, Lewis was able to secure a pole position and a first Sprint win for Ferrari. However, Lewis has bigger plans when it comes to his contract and collaboration with the Ferrari F1 team. He recently announced that he wanted to design his own Ferrari F44. Are you curious about what his plans are? Then keep reading to discover everything about it!

The iconic story of the Ferrari F40

For a lot of people, the Ferrari F40 is an automotive icon just because of its looks. However, the car carries a lot of history with it as well. It was the first car from Ferrari to incorporate multiple F1 build techniques to achieve the iconic look.

This is not the only special thing about the Ferrari F40. This car was the final car design that was approved by Enzo Ferrari himself in 1988. In that year it replaced the Ferrari 288. This, combined with the looks made it one of the most iconic looking cars in history. In addition, the Ferrari F40 was the first production car to reach the speed of 200mph, adding to its legacy!

In total, just over 1300 units were ever manufactured, and many of them have been crashed already. One of the latest ones to be crashed was from F1 star Lando Norris. However, the McLaren F1 driver was not behind the wheel during the crash, so he received an unfortunate phone call. Luckily for him, the crash wasn’t all that bad, and Ferrari will be able to fix his F40. Check out the crash here:

What does Lewis want to do with the Ferrari F44

Lewis Hamilton wants to take the experience people felt with the Ferrari F40 and bring it back into a modern-day supercar. However, you won’t find an automatic gearbox in this car; it will still be a manual car with a stick shift, which car enthusiasts like! Lewis already has a name for the project he is going to work on: The Ferrari F44. This would be a hommage to the classic F40, but would also incorporate Lewis’ number in Formula One! Lewis has only announced his plans to make this happen, but no official project or announcement has been made. All we know this car will probably come with the classic Ferrari price tag!
